Born and raised in Texas, Ryan has built software for 17 years. His depth is mobile; his breadth covers cloud, DevOps and CI/CD, web and server development. He has held individual-contributor and leadership roles at Barclays and Amazon and at start-ups such as Bypass Mobile (now Clover Sport) and Swiftly Systems. Most recently he took a start-up from zero to one: designing and deploying its microservices on Google Cloud with Terraform and Kubernetes, integrating Stripe and Rutter, and building a retrieval-augmented chatbot. Ryan has lived in Fukuoka, Japan, since May 2022, and has worked US business hours with US clients and teams the whole time, so a US time zone is a normal working day for him, not an exception.
